Messier 35
Messier 35, an open star cluster in Gemini almost the size of the full Moon, photographed by Pete Lawrence.
Target details
Messier 35 is an open star cluster in Gemini, about 2,800 light-years (850 parsecs) away, spread across a patch of sky almost the size of the full Moon. By measuring how its stars move, astronomers estimate that its central 3.75 parsecs hold between 1,600 and 3,200 times the mass of the Sun.
